Future Spartan Pierre Brooks has captured the first of what will hopefully be many championships at the Breslin Center.

Brooks put together one final impressive performance to wrap up his high school career and lead Detroit Frederick Douglass to the MHSAA Division 4 State Championship on Saturday. Brooks made numerous highlight-reel plays on both ends of the floor to lead the Hurricanes past Wyoming Tri-unity Christian, 47-41, for the state title.

Brooks finished the game with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead Detroit Frederick Douglass.

“I would say this is the best feeling in the world, especially winning a state championship while winning it with your dad,” Brooks told Brad Emons of The Detroit Free Press after the game.
