On Monday night when the Jacksonville Jaguars faced off against the New Orleans Saints, if you closed your eyes and only listened to the announcers, you would have probably thought that you were listening to a Texas Longhorns game from 2018.
Both former star receivers Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Collin Johnson were making plays and scoring touchdowns when the duo faced off in their Week 2 preseason matchup. Humphrey is trying to carve out a spot on the Saints roster, while Johnson is looking to have a bigger role for the Jaguars.
Humphrey seemed to have the better all-around game as he caught four passes for 74 yards and a touchdown. He also had the better quarterback play, as the Jaguars still look like they are trying to figure things out, which is expected with a whole new staff and two young quarterbacks competing for the starting role.
However, Johnson made a play when he got the opportunity. Johnson and quarterback C.J. Beathard connected for a 24-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.

Both players are hoping that showing some production this preseason will prove that they are capable of having a much larger role. Johnson registered 18 catches, 272 yards, and two touchdowns last season, while Humphrey caught three passes for 46 yards and one touchdown.
