The final stretch on the path to the 2020 NFL draft for Cincinnati Bengals fans features some criticism of Joe Burrow the prospect.

It’s well-traveled territory for fanbases who have held the first pick over the years. Questions of whether the draft’s best player is the best fit for the team holding the first pick then usually transforms into some critiques of the prospect himself.

We’re in that territory now and NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah was having none of it, even throwing out a Stephen Curry name drop in the process:

“When you’re talking about the first overall pick, you want somebody to check every single box and he does not have a huge arm, so I get it in that regard. But everything else he does, he does at such a high level and there’s no such thing as the perfect prospect…It feels to me almost like you’re watching Steph Curry and you’re telling me all the stuff that he can’t do when he does so many things exceptionally well, I don’t care what he can’t do.”

Nail, hammer. Fun and apt Curry metaphor aside, Zac Taylor and others from the Bengals have already touched on the Burrow arm strength conversation. They, alongside many experts, don’t mind because the offense and talent around the quarterback can mask such a feature.

And…it never impacted Burrow’s play during his historic season.

Burrow and Curry. That’s a fun one.
