Former Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith was drafted No. 10 overall in the 2021 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. Only a few days after his selection, he seems excited to get to work.
Though he was originally thought to be the first receiver selected, Smith was the third wide receiver drafted, he was taken after LSU’s La’Marr Chase and his former Alabama teammate Jaylen Waddle.
Smith’s senior season ended with a national championship win and a Heisman trophy, but he still has a lot to prove as he gears up for his rookie season in the NFL.
Questions regarding his size and abilities arose during the pre-draft process. He remained quiet and only spoke briefly on those topics when asked in interviews.
Today, Smith released a hype tape to his Twitter account. It features the song ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ by Philadelphia’s own, Meek Mill.
Also included in the tape is a mid-play jersey swap that shows Smith jumping up in the air for a touchdown reception. However, when he catches the ball, his jersey goes from the Crimson Tide to the Eagles.
