Sometimes just being in the right place at the right time is all that is needed.
Former Texas wide receiver Devin Duvernay was a prime example of that in Week 2 when the Baltimore Ravens faced off with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.
In the first quarter of the game with the Ravens in the redzone, Duvernay recorded his first NFL offensive touchdown on a play that was not designed for him. The sure-handed receiver happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Baltimore running back Ty’Son Williams was seeking the end zone and took a hard hit that resulted in the ball popping out and landing in the hands of Duvernay.
It’s hard to imagine that Duvernay envisioned his first career touchdown on offense coming this way, but nonetheless the first has finally come in his second season with the team.

During his collegiate career, Duvernay was known for having some of the surest hands in all of college football. He put that on display during his senior campaign when he caught 106 passes for 1,386 yards and nine touchdowns.
He is still looking to solidify a role in the Ravens offense, as he currently has 21 catches for 207 yards and now two career touchdowns over the last two years.
Duvernay’s speed and great hands will surely help him get that opportunity to carve out a bigger role, but for now let’s appreciate the odd first career offensive touchdown.
