The first Auburn Tiger taken in the 2023 NFL draft is EDGE [autotag]Derick Hall[/autotag].
Hall was selected with the 37th overall pick by the Seattle Seahawks. His selection concluded the Seahawks’ trade with the Denver Broncos for quarterback Russell Wilson. As part of the trade, The Seahawks received first-round and second-round picks in the 2022 and 2023 NFL drafts, a fifth-round pick in the 2022 draft, as well as QB Drew Locke, DL Shelby Harris, and TE Noah Fant.
College Sports Wire’s Patrick Conn says that the Seahawks filled an important need by drafting Hall.
After addressing the cornerback and wide receiver positions on day one, the defense gets a much needed boost with Hall. He will be disruptive in the backfield with sacks, tackles for loss, and forced fumbles.
Hall was joined by friends and family at his home in Gulfport, Mississippi to watch the draft. Once his name was called, the celebration began. Here’s the first look at Hall’s reaction to being drafted 37th overall by the Seahawks, filmed by WXXV-TV’s Jeff Haeger.
