Despite being the longest-tenured member of the Boston Celtics and among the most beloved players on the roster, there is a sizeable contingent of fans of the storied franchise who think that the Celtics should be looking to move on from veteran point guard Marcus Smart.
Others point out just how much better the team has been playing of late with the Flower Mound native back from an extended stint out injured and in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, and make a compelling case that trading Smart would be a disaster for the team’s title aspirations.
Is the truth somewhat more complex than this? What are the nuances that need to be considered?
