#Broncos @Dalton_Risner66 on why it’s important for him to use his platform to speak to kids. I also asked him about the change at offensive coordinator. It’s all part of a successful rookie year that has been whirlwind for Risner. #Denver7 pic.twitter.com/nKdiYlsIzP

Before the Broncos officially hired offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur on Tuesday afternoon, KMGH-TV’s Troy Renck spoke with offensive lineman Dalton Risner about the team’s offensive coaching changes.
Risner didn’t even know Shurmur was going to be the new hire.
“Who?” Risner asked when Renck mentioned having a new offensive coordinator. “What? Wait, who’s Pat Shurmur? No way! I had no idea! Isn’t that crazy?” Risner said with a big smile.
Risner apparently isn’t very familiar with Shurmur but he had good things to say about Rich Sangarello, who was fired on Sunday.
“I’m just on Twitter yesterday and I see that my offensive coordinator was fired and I liked the guy,” Risner said. “So that was a huge bummer. You know, I loved Rich Scangarello and I thought he did a hell of a job and thought he did a lot of great things.
“You just told me who my new offensive coordinator was, I had no idea. I’m getting a quick taste of what it’s like to be in the big leagues.”
Risner was selected by Denver in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft. He started all 16 games last season and earned PFWA and PFF All-Rookie Team honors after allowing 2.5 sacks in his first year as a pro.
