The Chicago Bears were supposed to be hosting the San Francisco 49ers for their third preseason game on Saturday afternoon. Instead, the Bears held their second scrimmage of training camp, simulating a real game as players suited up in their game-day jerseys and hit the gridiron at Soldier Field.
While the media hasn’t been able to live tweet the scrimmage, the Bears Twitter account did share this highlight from practice, which features a speedy Cordarrelle Patterson finding the end zone. And it’s hard not to get excited seeing the Bears back at Soldier Field — even if it’s only a scrimmage.

The Bears have been adamant about getting Patterson more involved in the offense this season, which is exactly what you should do when you have a dynamic playmaker on your team.
While Patterson will continue his kick return duties on special teams, it looks like we’re going to be seeing a lot more Patterson on offense — whether at receiver or running back.
Patterson has been working with the running backs during training camp, a position that he’s been utilized at dating back to his time with the New England Patriots.
Every time Patterson has the ball in his hands, he’s a threat to make a play or find the end zone like he did in practice. Which is why you’re likely to see a lot more Patterson on offense in 2020.
