WATCH: Chiefs’ Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes at American Century Championship practice

It’s only the practice round, but the fun has already started for #Chiefs’ Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes at the American Century Championship.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and TE Travis Kelce are set to play in the American Century Championship for the second consecutive year.

The real event kicks off on Friday, with Mahomes, Kelce and Justin Timberlake (yes, that’s the pairing) teeing off at 11:29 a.m. PST.  While we wait on the tournament to start, the practice rounds for the celebrity golf tourney began on Wednesday. Mahomes and Kelce are already up to their usual antics, making for some highlight-worthy moments.

Like all great things in life, the highlights begin with Kelce chugging a beer. Afterward, Kelce is asked to describe Mahomes’ golf game and the description is glorious.

Check it out:

“Patrick Mahomes in a nutshell, he’s just a competitor, man. He just figures it out,” Kelce said. “A lot of the times, you see in the fourth quarter, we have a crazy comeback win. He’s a great finisher, but today is not his day. I’ll tell you what. . . he’s killing me right now.”

Mahomes, prompted with the same question, provided an honest assessment of what it’s like to golf with Kelce.

“Travis Kelce’s golf game is a fun watch,” Mahomes said. “You’re going to have a couple of birdies, a couple of eagles, multiple doubles, but it’s going to be a great time the entire time. It’s going to be a great time. We’re going to watch him right here and he’s going to drive one on the green. He’s actually aimed at that bunker on the left, he’s going to play a huge slice.”

Speaking of the slice, that appears to be what Mahomes is playing for with this swing.

You can catch the American Century Championship on TV from July 9-11. On Friday, July 9th you can watch the first round on NBC Sports Network at 4:00 p.m. CST. Saturday and Sunday’s rounds will be broadcast on your local NBC stations beginning at 1:30 p.m. CST.
