The Boston Celtics were not as close as some might have supposed at the 2021 NBA trade deadline to landing either Orlando Magic star forward Aaron Gordon or his teammate All-Star big man Nikola Vucevic, according to The Athletic’s Josh Robbins.
Speaking on the latest episode of the CLNS “A-List” podcast hosted by Kwani A. Lunis and A. Sherrod Blakely, the trio dove into the trade rumors suggesting the Celtics were trying to get in on a deal for either of the Magic front court denizens at the deadline. With Boston not even close to the package offered by the Chicago Bulls for Vucevic and unwilling to operate in the same sphere of assets as did the Denver Nuggets for Gordon, rumored Celtics involvement was at a much lower level than thought in some corners.
Whether that’s a good thing largely depends on the eye of the beholder.
