WATCH: Cassius Winston scores first career NBA basket for Washington Wizards

Former Michigan State star Cassius Winston has scored his first career NBA regular season bucket for the Wizards.

With a groin injury to backup point guard Raul Neto, Cassius Winston was granted an opportunity by the Washington Wizards to be the interim backup to star point guard Russell Westbrook against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. In the game, Winston was able to score his first career regular-season basket, a historic moment in what should be a long and fruitful career.

Winston hasn’t made quite the rookie splash that Xavier Tillman has made with the Grizzlies, but a lot of that has been due to a lack of opportunities. Tillman has been given more minutes, ironically, due to the absence of fellow Spartan Jaren Jackson Jr. for Memphis.
