WATCH: Byron Cardwell breaks off 34-yard run for first career touchdown

Going 34-yards untouched for your first career TD? That will do for Oregon’s Byron Cardwell Jr.

Byron Cardwell seems to have taken that No. 2 running back position and run with it, quite literally.

The freshman scored his first career touchdown with a basic off tackle right and once he saw open space, he let his speed to the rest.

Cardwell’s touchdown made it 14-0 Ducks over Colorado with 7:04 left in the first quarter. He made another sweet run earlier in the scoring drive as Cardwell went 29 yards, also running right. He made one guy miss before going out of bounds.

Having a solid No. 2 tailback will take the load off of starter Travis Dye. He took over the No. 1 running back duties from CJ Verdell after the junior went down with a ankle injury.
