Bill O’Brien was the Alabama football offensive coordinator for two seasons and decided to move back to the NFL briefly after the 2022 season concluded. He returns to the New England Patriots as the team’s offensive coordinator, where he works very closely with former Crimson Tide quarterback, Mac Jones.
From 2007 through 2011, O’Brien served the Patriots’ offense in various roles. He ultimately became the offensive coordinator in 2011 but accepted the Penn State head coaching job the following season.
Now, O’Brien has an opportunity to work with Jones, who departed from the Crimson Tide program just before O’Brien joined Saban’s staff.
In a recent video shared to Twitter, the two can be seen working together in preparation for the 2023 NFL season. Recently, the two got together on the field for the first time and Jones was reportedly “energized” by O’Brien.
Getting the most out of Jones is crucial for New England’s success, as the AFC East looks poised to be the strongest division in the league next season.
