The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense has looked to be in an absolute groove all game long against the Washington Commanders. The passing attack looked especially good, with Baker Mayfield looking the best he has ever.
All of this is coming despite the team losing offensive coordinator Dave Canales to the Carolina Panthers. The run game has looked different, but the passing game remains as effective as ever.
In his place has come Liam Coen, who has placed a relaxed nature on Mayfield and the Bucs offense. What remains the same, though, is Mike Evans and his utter dominance of NFL secondaries.
Despite being completely covered, potentially to the point of drawing a flag, none of it mattered. Mayfield dropped a pass right where it needed to be, and Mike Evans came down with it for the team’s first touchdown of the season.
This should be a connection we see much more throughout 2024 and beyond.
