It was a wild final 3-minutes for Notre Dame football in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
The Irish had a “long” drive of 10-plays for 32-yards that lasted 39-seconds which resulted in a Mitch Jeter 48-yard field goal to extend their lead 6-3. That’s when it got a bit wild for Notre Dame.
On the first play of Georgia’s drive, defensive end RJ Oben sacked quarterback Gunner Stockton, causing a fumble which was recovered by the other end, Junior Tuilahamaka.
Just one play later, quarterback Riley Leonard found wide receiver Beaux Collins in the end zone to give the Irish a 13-3 lead. Again, the Bulldogs played with fire, but it didn’t burn them, as two plays later it was halftime and Notre Dame had all the momentum.
It was a quick turn of events for both teams, and the Irish couldn’t be happier on how it worked out.
