Texas’ annual Orange-White spring game offered no shortage of highlights in the first half.
Most fans were focused on Arch Manning’s debut as a Longhorn. A loud applause emerged from the crowd when the nation’s No. 1 quarterback in the 2023 recruiting class took the field in the first quarter.
Quinn Ewers worked with the first-team offense for the entire first half. Backup quarterback Maalik Murphy got the start with the second-team offense, but switched each series with Manning.
Jonathon Brooks, the expected starting running back for Texas this season, did not play in the first half. Jaydon Blue and Savion Red received the start for each respective side. Five-star freshman running back Cedric Baxter got work with the first-team offense and recorded the first touchdown of the day.
