WATCH: Alex Smith’s wife posts incredible video documenting QB’s recovery

Former Chiefs QB Alex Smith has been through a lot and this video shows the progress he’s made as he finally returns to football work.

Former Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith is just over a year removed from suffering a devastating broken leg with the Washington Redskins.

It’s been a long road, but Smith has made serious strides in his rehabilitation. He’s now allowed to work on some football stuff like being able to run, drop back and throw. On Monday, Smith’s wife, Elizabeth, took to Instagram to share a video documenting the yearlong recovery and rehab. Check it out:

“November 18th… 1 Year and so much to be grateful for,” Elizabeth wrote in the photo caption.

Playing in the NFL again is still the goal for her husband, and he still has a few steps to go in the process before he could return to game action. For now, he’s doing what he can and taking everything one day at a time. In the meantime, he’s helping out in the Washington QB room as best he can.

At practice recently, he was spotted snapping the ball to rookie Dwayne Haskins during individual drills.

Washington fans are hopeful that as Smith continues his recovery, he can impart every piece of wisdom to Haskins that he’s accumulated in his 13-year NFL career, just as he did in Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes.
