The Washington Football Team has a tough path to repeat as NFC East champions in 2021. In addition to a first-place schedule, Washington’s 17th game in 2021 is a road matchup against the Bills.
Washington has some difficult stretches in 2021, including five straight division games to end the season. The Football Team will also play on the road in four of its final six games.
Cynthia Frelund, NFL.com’s analytics expert, recently previewed the most difficult stretch of every NFC East team.
Frelund’s model determines WFT’s most difficult stretch begins in Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints. In Week 6, Washington hosts Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, followed by a trip to Lambeau Field to visit the Green Bay Packers. Finally, in Week 8, Washington heads to the Mile High City to face the Denver Broncos.
Here are Frelund’s win probabilities for each game during this stretch:
- New Orleans — 52.1%
- Kansas City — 47.1%
- Green Bay — 48.3%
- Denver — 51.9%
This stretch features two of the last three NFL MVPs – that is, if Aaron Rodgers is playing for Green Bay in 2021. Road games at Denver are always difficult, especially for teams coming from the east coast.
If Washington can survive this stretch with at least a 2-2 record, it could go a long way in determining if the team can repeat as NFC East champs.
