Washington’s best players of 2023: No. 3 Bralen Trice

The Washington Huskies got a stellar performance from Bralen Trice, one of the nation’s best edge rushers, in 2023.

The Washington Huskies didn’t have a stellar defense in terms of numbers in 2023, but got an elite performance out of edge rusher Bralen Trice. One of the nation’s best pass rushers, he notched 49 tackles, 7 sacks, and 11 tackles for loss last season while leading the nation with 70 quarterback pressures.

Those numbers led the product of Sandra Day O’Connor High School in Phoenix, Arizona to a spot on Pro Football Focus’ First Team All-America, as well as the Associated Press’ Third Team All-America, and the All-Pac-12 first team.

PFF also named the edge rusher the No. 13 best player in the nation last season. He had one of the best games of his Husky career in the Sugar Bowl against the Texas Longhorns, totaling 5 tackles, 3 for loss, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Trice consistently wreaked havoc in opposing backfields and set some analytics records, totaling the two highest individual pressure games in PFF’s history, recording 18 against Washington State in 2022, and 16 against Stanford in 2023.

As he turns his attention to the 2024 NFL draft, Trice is projected as a day two selection, but could push his stock into the first round with a strong showing at Washington’s pro day on March 28.
