The Washington Football Team is back in action on Thursday night as they host the New York Giants in an old-fashioned NFC East battle.
The Giants and Washington enter Thursday’s contest in need of a win, with both teams having lost their season-opener at home. While it’s early for a must-win game, Washington has a trip to Buffalo on the schedule for Week 3.
The story of the week for Washington was the injury to starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick after just six pass attempts. Fitzpatrick suffered a hip injury and will miss 6-8 weeks. Taylor Heinicke is now Washington’s starting quarterback.
Fitzpatrick’s injury overshadowed Washington’s defense allowing the Los Angeles Chargers to convert on 14 of 19 third-down attempts.
The Giants have won the last five meetings between the old rivals.
