The Washington Huskies have been looking for some veteran depth at wide receiver and have found it in Arizona Wildcats transfer Kevin Green Jr., who announced his commitment to Jedd Fisch’s staff on Sunday.
After redshirting in 2022, Green played in 11 games for the Wildcats last season, starting 2 while struggling to see a consistent target share behind stars Tetairoa McMillan and Jacob Cowing. He pulled in 8 catches for 97 yards, an average of 12.2 yards per reception, and should provide wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings with a veteran option in certain situations.
Green’s addition signals that the Huskies won’t have any true freshman receivers in the two-deep depth chart this fall. Redshirt freshmen Rashid Williams and Keith Reynolds have been impressive during spring practice to round out the second string, allowing the trio of Audric Harris, Jason Robinson Jr., and Justice Williams to utilize their redshirts and develop.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver will still have to wait his turn before potentially moving into a bigger role with the Huskies, but provides Fisch’s team some much-needed depth in the short term.
