Washington tight end Jack Westover signs with the Seattle Seahawks

Washington tight end Jack Westover signed with his hometown Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent.

Jack Westover will always be remembered as one of the most clutch players in Washington Huskies’ history. As Washington made their run to the national championship, it felt like Westover was always the one to make a key catch on third or fourth down to keep a drive alive.

Now, he’ll get to keep those skills in Seattle. The Seahawks prioritized Westover, signing him as an undrafted free agent immediately following the conclusion of the NFL draft.

The Bellevue native out of Mount Si High School in Seattle played only two games of high school football, both coming during his senior year after focusing on basketball, before suffering a broken collarbone. With no offers, he walked on at Washington.

By 2020, Westover was on scholarship, and began to play a key role as an H-back and tight end next to Devin Culp, who was drafted earlier on Saturday by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

An undersized tight end at 6-foot-2 and 243-pounds, Westover will likely play more of a hybrid fullback/H-back role with the Seahawks. But it’d be foolish to assume he won’t make an impact, even if it’s not immediate. Westover also has plenty of special teams experience after playing on Washington’s kick return and punt coverage units over the last two seasons.
