Strangely enough, Washington State can’t let this be about the offense. It’s much better in low scoring fights that come down to a key stop here and clutch scoring drive there.
Washington State is 7-0 when allowing fewer than 21 points, and 0-5 when allowing that many or more. Fresno State is 8-1 when score more than 20 points and 1-3 when it doesn’t.
The Bulldog offense might be great, and Jake Haener is wonderful, but it’s going to have to be ready to grind a bit. Washington State won’t do anything to control the time of possession battle, but the defense will still manage to hold tough and force field goals instead of touchdowns.
Haener will get his passing yards, but they won’t be enough.
Don’t expect a wild and crazy shootout, and that will suit Wazzu just fine.
