Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. is lighting up the Senior Bowl

Our No. 1 choice there would be Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

The Seahawks have a strong starting quarterback in Geno Smith, who has a relatively team-friendly contract considering his production. However, Smith’s age (33) and the arrival of a new head coach on the scene could mean that the team will look to replace him this offseason.

Our No. 1 choice there would be Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who led the nation in passing yards in 2023 and looks like he might be this year’s C.J. Stroud. Penix has sensational touch, accuracy and polish for a QB with his experience. This week he has been turning heads at the Senior Bowl. Here’s some of his best work in one-on-one drills.

Penix has also made some hair-raising throws in 11-on-11s.

Every NFL team that doesn’t have Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow or Josh Allen should be interested in drafting a solid young QB, and Seattle may be more intrigued than most.

Yesterday we learned that the team is considering hiring Ryan Grubb as their offensive coordinator. He just called plays for Penix at Washington for two years before following Kalen DeBoer to Alabama.
