Another loss means Washington inches one step closer to landing in the top five of the 2022 NFL draft.

The Washington Football Team dropped to 2-6 on the season after a disappointing 17-10 loss to the Denver Broncos. It is Washington’s fourth consecutive loss as it heads into the bye week.

While it’s still a bit early to rule Washington out of the playoff picture, the Cowboys are the class of the NFC East in 2021, so there will be no repeat of 2020. That means, for fans at least, it’s time to start looking ahead to 2022.

And that means the NFL draft.

After Sunday’s loss, Washington moves up to the No. 6 position in the 2022 NFL draft if the season ended today, per Tankathon. If Washington picks No. 6 overall, it should be able to land one of the draft’s top quarterbacks. Of course, what happens if there isn’t a quarterback worth taking at that position?

Washington will once again be in the quarterback market in 2022. And, this offseason could be the most pivotal search in franchise history as Washington looks to solve the game’s most important position. That means all options are on the table.

If Aaron Rodgers, Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, or any other high-profile veteran is made available, Washington should be the team that calls first.
