Washington baseball routs Portland 11-2

Washington’s middle infielders had a big day as the Husky offense put up 11 runs against the Portland Pilots.

The Washington Huskies have won three of their last four games after an 11-2 victory over the Portland Pilots on Tuesday evening. Coach Jason Kelly’s team posted 13 hits in its offensive onslaught, 9 of those coming from the top four hitters in the order.

Second baseman Aiva Arquette went 3 for 4 on the day with a run batted in and 2 runs scored, as he opened the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning.

Shortstop Cam Clayton had an excellent day, going 4 for 5 at the plate with an RBI, and scoring 3 runs. First baseman Jeter Ybarra also crossed the plate 3 times, going 2 for 4 with an RBI, while catcher Colton Bower added a two-run double.

Starter Max Fraser was perfect on the mound, earning his first win of the season and although he didn’t strike out any batters over his 5 innings of work, he didn’t allow any baserunners either.

With the win, the Huskies improved to 12-17-1 on the season while the Pilots fell to 22-12. Washington will travel to Utah and kick off a three-game series with the Utes on Friday morning at 10:00.
