Washington baseball posts 13-run inning to take series from Seattle U

The Washington Huskies exploded for 13 runs in the eighth inning to beat Seattle U.

Things looked bleak for coach Jason Kelly and the Washington Huskies, who were held to just 4 hits and 1 run through the first seven innings. Then in the eighth, Washington’s offense exploded for 7 hits and 13 runs, en route to a 14-3 victory over the Seattle University Redbirds.

The inning was fueled by a grand slam off the bat of third baseman Sam DeCarlo, who went 2 for 5 with 4 runs batted in, and a two-run triple from shortstop Cam Clayton.

Left fielder Dylan Osborne went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored, while second baseman Blake Wilson posted a 2 for 5 day with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Reliever Sawyer Parkin earned the win after posting 3 scoreless innings and letting up just 3 hits. Ryan Morrison, who wasn’t able to record an out, took the loss for Seattle U, allowing 2 hits and 3 earned runs.

The Huskies improved to 14-19-1 with the victory, while the Redbirds fell to 12-28 on the year. Now, Kelly’s team will prepare for a three-game series with the No. 16 Arizona Wildcats, with the first pitch on Friday evening scheduled for 6:05.
