Washington adds Michigan transfer LB Hayden Moore

The Washington Huskies have rounded out their depth at linebacker with the addition of Michigan transfer Hayden Moore.

Coach Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies have added their second Big Ten commitment of the week from the transfer portal after former Michigan linebacker Hayden Moore announced his intentions to move to Seattle on Tuesday morning.

Moore was a three-star recruit in the 2023 class from Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado, and redshirted during the Wolverines’ run to the national championship. He will fill the spot left by Jordan Whitney, who entered the transfer portal on May 2 and could be a significant contributor at linebacker down the line. He might not have an opportunity to see the field right away, since the position is currently helmed by seniors Carson Bruener, Alphonzo Tuputala, Drew Fowler, and Bryun Parham.

The 6-foot-2, 226-pound Moore was also a standout pitcher in high school and had offers to play baseball from Washington State University and Louisiana Tech.

He finished his senior season with 197 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble, and chose Michigan over 23 offers, including Nebraska, Texas A&M, UCLA, and Wisconsin among others.

Fisch and defensive coordinator Steve Belichick are building a linebacker corps that could be one of the strongest points on the team. Position coach Robert Bala highlighted true freshman Khmori House as someone who has stood out during spring practice and combined with Moore, the pair could provide solid depth in the future.
