Warriors vs. Kings: Tipoff set for Game 1 of playoffs on Saturday in Sacramento

Tipoff is set for Game 1 between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings.

The stage is officially set. The No. 6 seed Golden State Warriors will begin their title defense against the Sacramento Kings in the opening round of the postseason.

After concluding the regular season on Easter Sunday, the Warriors and the Kings will get five days off before meeting in Game 1 of the opening-round series on Saturday.

The Warriors and Kings will get to watch from home as the final two spots in the Western Conference playoffs will be decided in the play-in tournament between the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans.

With the play-in tournament set to begin on April 11, the official first round of the playoffs is set to start on Saturday and Sunday. The Warriors will travel to Sacramento for Game 1 on Saturday with tipoff set for primetime at 5:30 p.m. PT.

The remainder of the schedule for the series has yet to be announced.

Saturday’s Game 1 will be the first playoff game in the history of Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center. The Kings moved into the freshly built Golden 1 Center in 2016. Saturday’s game will be the first Kings’ playoff contest since 2006.

The Warriors will return to the postseason for the second consecutive season. Last year, the Warriors were crowned champions after eliminating the Boston Celtics in NBA Finals in six games.
