Warriors vs. Kings Game 7 was most-watched first-round playoff game since 1999

All eyes were on Game 7 between the Kings and Warriors on Sunday.

There were a great many eyes on Game 7 between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings on Sunday. While Steph Curry caught fire for a record-breaking 50 points in Sacramento, millions tuned in to watch the win-or-go-home first-round game.

On Tuesday, the NBA announced the Warriors’ win over the Kings in Game 7 was the most-watched first-round playoff game in 24 years. The Warriors-Kings Game 7 drew 9.8 million viewers, making it the most watched first-round playoff game since Game 5 between the Utah Jazz and Kings in 1999.

The viewers got a treat on Sunday as “The Steph Curry Show” took over in Sacramento. The All-Star guard tallied 50 points on 20-of-38 shooting from the field with seven made 3s to break the NBA playoff Game 7 scoring record. Curry added eight rebounds and six assists.

Behind Curry, the Warriors put an end to an exciting series against the Kings with a 117-112 road win to advance to the next round of the playoffs.

With the stage set for a storybook series between the Warriors and Lakers in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs, more eyes will likely be watching Curry and company on the court.

Game 1 between the Warriors and Lakers will tip off on TNT at 7 p.m. PT on Tuesday in San Francisco.
