Warriors’ Ryan Rollins drops 27 points on G League assignment

Rollins scored a team-high on assignment in the G League to lead Santa Cruz to a win over the OKC Blue.

Golden State Warriors rookie Ryan Rollins on Thursday scored a team-high on assignment in the NBA G League to lead the Santa Cruz Warriors to a win over the OKC Blue.

Rollins produced 27 points and three rebounds in 26 minutes of work in the 115-107 win on the road. He scored 12 points alone in the fourth quarter and went 12-of-20 from the field overall, including 1-of-4 from 3-point range, in his second game with Santa Cruz.

The performance came after Rollins left early on Wednesday versus the Blue due to a minor knee tweak. He returned to the lineup for the second game of their back-to-back in OKC and looked to have no lingering effects from that injury.

Rollins totaled nine points, three assists and one rebound in his debut with Santa Cruz before leaving with that knee injury. He is averaging 18 points, two rebounds and 1.5 assists on 48.4% shooting from the field in the G League.

The 44th pick was also joined by first-round pick Patrick Baldwin Jr. in the contest. Baldwin put up 16 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal in 26 minutes during his second game, as well. He is posting 15.5 points, six rebounds and 1.5 steals.

The two players have played sparingly with Golden State and will likely spend much of the season in the G League to see consistent playing time and continue their development. The team has found success with its affiliate and will be hoping for more of the same with Rollins and Baldwin.
