Warriors’ Klay Thompson reacts to being left off the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team

After being left off the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, Klay Thompson chimed in on social media with a response.

Before the Golden State Warriors 2021-22 home opener, the league revealed the final names on the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team. The association is honoring the top 75 players in league history for the NBA’s 75th season.

The decorated list included multiple current and former members of the Warriors, including Steph Curry, Rick Barry, Nate Thurmond, Wilt Chamberlain and more.

However, the list did leave off Curry’s fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson.

After not making the cut for the league’s top 75 players, the Warriors shooting guard chimed in on Instagram with a response.

Modern players like Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook and Damian Lillard were joined by Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden and others on the anniversary list.

Despite not being included on the team of 75 players, Thompson’s resume includes:

  • Three NBA titles.
  • Five All-Star appearances.
  • Two nods to the All-NBA third team.
  • A spot on the NBA All-Defensive team in 2019.

During his career, Thompson has averaged 19.5 points on 45.9% shooting from the field and 41.9% shooting from long distance. The 10-year-veteran has added 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest.

Thompson has missed the last two seasons with an ACL and Achilles injury, but he’s slated to make his long-awaited return to the court at some point during the 2021-22 season. The shooting guard might be coming back with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove.
