Warriors ban ‘Fake Klay Thompson’ from Chase Center after getting past security at NBA Finals

No more “Fake Klay Thompson” at Chase Center.

After making appearances at Oracle Arena, the character known as “Fake Klay Thompson” quickly turned into a legend in the crowd at Golden State Warriors games.

Dating back several years, YouTuber Dawson Gurley known as “BigDawsTV” appeared at Warriors games in a full Klay Thompson No. 11 uniform. Gurley also shaped his facial hair to resemble Thompson.

On Monday, Gurley showed up at San Francisco’s Chase Center for Game 5 of the NBA Finals. However, he was later removed before the game and banned from the arena.

Dressed as Thompson with a blue Warriors warm-up hoodie, Gurley surpassed security at Chase Center to get all the way down the court. Gurley was also able to get off some shots on the hardwood before the Warriors hit the court for warm-ups.

On Monday, Gurley tweeted he was banned from Chase Center and other arenas affiliated with the Warriors like Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz.

Although his doppelganger was banned from the arena, the real Thompson tallied 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor with five triples, three rebounds and two assists in Golden State’s Game 5 win over the Boston Celtics on Monday night.
