After a nine-month layoff from game action, the Golden State Warriors returned to the Chase Center court for a preseason tilt against the Denver Nuggets.
An early burst from Kent Bazemore off the bench paired with a late steady shooting stretch from Mychal Mulder helped the Warriors hold on for a close victory over the Nuggets, 107-105.
Six different Warriors scored in double-figures, led by Bazemore’s 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field with five boards in 18 minutes. Mulder, Jordan Poole, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Steph Curry each added 10 points in Golden State’s first preseason game of the 2020 slate.
The Warriors will now travel to the California state capital for a rivalry matchup with the Sacramento Kings.
The Kings are coming off two games against the Portland Trail Blazers with a 1-1 preseason record. De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield will lead their up-and-coming tandem against Golden State’s new-look backcourt that features Curry and Oubre Jr.
The Warriors will also get a dose of Sacramento’s first-round pick Tyrese Haliburton. In each of Sacramento’s preseason contests, the Iowa State product has logged 20 or more minutes.
On the other side, the Warriors will be without first-rounder James Wiseman for the second consecutive preseason game. At the start of training camp, Wiseman and Draymond Green reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. Although Draymond Green and Wiseman have returned to the practice floor, both will be sidelined against the Kings.
Here is everything you need to know before the Warriors tipoff against the Kings in the preseason.
