Vols tie longest SEC win streak to open a season since 1992 expansion

Tennessee ties the longest SEC win streak to open a season since 1992 expansion.

No. 1 Tennessee (29-1, 10-0 SEC) defeated Missouri (18-9, 3-7 SEC), 8-3, Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Tennessee’s win is its 21st consecutive, a program record. The Vols’ 10th consecutive victory to start SEC play ties for the longest conference win streak to open the year since Florida had 10 in 1994.

Seven starters for the Vols recorded a hit, and six produced an RBI against Missouri.

Christian Scott was 3-for-4, tying his career high for hits in a game.

Evan Russell hit a three-run home run for Tennessee’s 73rd of the season.

Game No. 2 on Saturday will start at 7 p.m. EDT (SEC Network).

Sunday’s game No. 3 was slated to begin at 1 p.m. EDT. Tennessee announced Sunday’s first pitch is now 12:30 p.m. EDT. SEC Network+ will televise the series finale.
