The Volunteers, a No.3 seed in the South region, set three school tournament marks in its 88-56 victory over No. 14 Longwood.
Tennessee (27-7) set programs records for assists (29), steals (13) and field goal percentage (.600) in its victory over the Lancers (26-7), who were making their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Big South championship.
Tennessee had four players post double figures in the scoring column.
Santiago Vescovi led the Vols with 18 points. He also had seven assists.
Josiah-Jordan James scored 17 points and had nine rebounds for Tennessee, which advances to face No. 11 seed Michigan on Saturday.
Kennedy Chandler had 13 points, five rebounds and five assists, while freshman guard Zakai Zeigler came off the bench, totaling 10 points and six assists.
Justin Hill led the Lancers with 13 points, while DeShaun Wade added 10.
