ATLANTA — Throughout its proud history, the University of Tennessee football program has won six national championships and appeared in 54 postseason bowl games.

Many players, coaches and one broadcaster, Lindsey Nelson, have been inducted into bowl game Halls of Fame.

This segment will explore Volunteers in the Peach Bowl Hall of Fame.

Three Tennessee football greats are in the hall including defensive lineman Reggie White and former head coaches Johnny Majors and Phillip Fulmer.

White, one of the best defensive players in Tennessee football history, was enshrined in the hall in 2004.

The NFL and College Football Hall of Famer, known as the Minister of Defense, went into the bowl’s hall of fame in 2004.

He played in the 1982 Peach Bowl and in the Vols’ 28-22 loss to Iowa. White had eight tackles, one tackle for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble.

Majors, who coached Tennessee in the 1982 and 1988 games, was inducted in 2005. He guided the Big Orange to a 27–22 comeback victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in 1988, thanks to a late touchdown run by Knoxville Central High School graduate Reggie Cobb.

Majors is also in the Sugar Bowl Hall of Fame and has been named a Legend of the Sun Bowl.

Fulmer, who was inducted into the hall in 2012, went 0-2 in the game with back-to-back losses to Maryland and Clemson. But he guided the Vols to 15 bowl games as head coach.
