Vols drop doubleheader to Indiana State

Recapping Tennessee’s two losses to Sycamores Saturday.

Tennessee’s baseball team fell from the ranks of unbeaten Saturday.

The No. 16 Volunteers were swept in a doubleheader by Indiana State at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Sycamores took game one, 3-1, and claimed the nightcap, 7-5.

In game one, UT managed just five hits and three of those came during the ninth inning.

Tennessee scored its lone run of the contest during the bottom of the fourth inning when Jordan Beck tripled in Jake Rucker.

Luc Lipcius, Connor Pavolony, Drew Gilbert and Rucker accounted for Tennessee’s hits in the game.

Lipcius and Max Ferguson, who reached on an error, stole bases for the Vols.

In game two, the Vols (6-2) scored all five of their runs in the sixth inning after falling behind Indiana State (3-3), 5-0.

In the frame, Liam Spence belted a two-run double and Rucker drove in a pair with a single.

Drew Gilbet also had an RBI groundout in the frame.
