Tennessee 2025 basketball recruiting target Shane Cherry will play football in 2023.
Cherry is from Austin-East High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. He practiced with Austin-East’s’ football team on Monday.
The 2025 point guard prospect was offered a scholarship by Tennessee on April 21. He averaged 28.1 points, 4.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 blocks per game during the 2022-23 season.
Cherry has scholarship offers from Penn State, Auburn, California, Georgia Tech, Tennessee State and the Vols.
Austin-East kicks off its 2023 season versus William Blount High School (Maryville, Tennessee) on Aug. 18. The Roadrunners were 3-8 in 2022 and advanced to the TSSAA Class 3A playoffs.
