Virtual Report Card: Grading the LSU Tigers after their 20-14 loss

Let’s hand out some grades

Rush Defense: A+

One of the big concerns going into this game was slowing down Brian Robinson Jr. The defense led by Damone Clark was up for the task as they limited him to just 18 total yards on 13 carries.

Overall the rush defense allowed a net six yards on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. They were able to keep LSU in the game by not allowing anything to get going on the ground and milking the clock with Alabama clinging to a six-point lead late in the game.

Pass Defense: B-

The duo of Jameson Williams and John Metchie were a handful for an undermanned LSU secondary. They were targeted a combined 28 times with 19 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns. The secondary receivers weren’t able to get going for the Alabama offense.

Outside of the 58-yard catch and run by Williams, you could argue that the secondary was up to the task. The pass rush also got to quarterback Bryce Young four times and even forced a turnover that gave LSU an opportunity.
