Vincent Poirier expresses disappointment with Sixers, Doc Rivers

Former Philadelphia 76ers big man Vincent Poirier expressed some disappointment with the team and coach Doc Rivers.

The Philadelphia 76ers made a big move on Thursday when they acquired George Hill from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 3-team deal that also sent Terrance Ferguson and Vincent Poirier to the New York Knicks. The Sixers also received Iggy Brazdeikis from the Knicks in the deal as well.

Poirier only played in 10 games for Philadelphia and he averaged 0.8 points as he was the fourth-string center behind Joel Embiid, Dwight Howard, and Tony Bradley. Even when Embiid was out, the majority of the playing time went to Bradley and Howard as there was not much of an opportunity for Poirier and that is what happens with great teams.

(function (d, s, n) {
var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
js = d.createElement(s);
js.className = n;
js.src = “//player.ex.co/player/d8b9c085-4226-44f1-8495-36ad4e2aa62d”;
fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, ‘script’, ‘exco-player’));

After the trade went down, Poirier sat down with French newspaper LeParisien which was then translated to English by Eurohoops and he expressed disappointment with both the Sixers and coach Doc Rivers about his lack of playing time:

“I wish someone had told me, ‘We were wrong’, ‘You can’t play with us’. I like it when things are straight,” Poirier also mentioned on the Sixers trading him. “The coach didn’t even send me a message although I know he sent others. I’m not asking him to give me compliments but just a message to wish me good luck. We are not commodities, we are still human beings. It’s a minimum of sending a message, to say that the situation was complicated, but thank you for your professionalism. A bogus thing, even if he doesn’t really mean it.”

Both Poirier and Ferguson were waived by the Knicks after the deal so both are looking for their next NBA opportunities.
