Vikings UDFA Dan Chisena switches positions

Dan Chisena, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent, has switched to the other side of the ball.

Dan Chisena played sparingly throughout his collegiate career with Penn State, but he still has plenty of upside.

A wide receiver in college, Chisena had three receptions for 66 yards in 2019. He also competed in track for the Nittany Lions, making his speed an enticing asset for the NFL.

Chisena signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent. He had been playing wide receiver, in addition to special teams, this training camp. But he has ostensibly switched from wide receiver to safety recently.

According to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, Chisena has been moved to the other side of the ball and will wear No. 39 now.

Chisena will attempt to make the team at a new position. It would be shocking if he was able to start, but he could be a depth option at a talented safety position group for the Vikings now. He’s also an interesting player to have on special teams.
