Vikings reportedly interested in re-signing Andrew Sendejo in free agency

Safety Andrew Sendejo might be coming back.

Anthony Harris could very well be on the move, but Harris isn’t the only Vikings safety who is a free agent this offseason.

Safety Andrew Sendejo is also no longer under contract. The Pioneer Press reported that the Vikings are interested in re-signing him, though.

Here’s what they said:

“[Sendejo] could be an option to start alongside Harrison Smith if Minnesota doesn’t re-sign free agent Anthony Harris, who could depart for a lucrative contract.”

I like this move. The safety position could use some continuity if Harris ends up commanding too high of a price and leaving. And whichever safety paired with Harrison Smith in the Vikings defense won’t have to do as much work, due to Smith’s ability. Minnesota could even draft a safety and sort of hide them on the defense.

Will Sendejo sign with the team and go back to being a consistent starter on the team? Vikings fans will have to wait and see.

Sendejo signed with the Eagles for 2019-20, only to be waived. Minnesota then brought Sendejo back during the season, acquiring him off waivers.
