Vikings release perfect receiver to round out Steelers depth chart

Could the Steelers sign Adam Thielen?

On Friday, the Minnesota Vikings made a surprising move when they released veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen. This was a move Minnesota made to trim salary cap and it puts another very good receiver on the market. This, along with a crowded free-agent market of wide receivers is very good news for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Thielen joined the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and up until now has spent his entire career with the Vikings. Thielen has 536 career receptions and had a career-best 113 receptions in 2018.

The Steelers need a third option at wide receiver after trading away Chase Claypool last season. Pittsburgh has a very young group of running backs, receivers and tight ends. The 32-year-old Thielen is an ideal veteran option to bring experience and leadership along with production to this group. Of all the receivers who are or could be available in free agency for the Steelers, it is hard to imagine there will be one that is a better fit for what the Steelers need and what they do than Thielen.

Let us know in the comments if you think Pittsburgh should try to sign Thielen.
