Vikings’ playoff chances after Ravens loss

The Vikings still have a chance.

Last week, FiveThirtyEight.com gave Minnesota a 39% chance of making the postseason in 2021. The Vikings suffered another defeat — this time to the Ravens — so Minnesota’s playoff chances dropped slightly after Week 9.

This week, FiveThirtyEight.com gave Minnesota a 27% chance of making the postseason. That’s not terrible. The Vikings aren’t in the best of positions to make the playoffs, but the team still is in the picture.

There is bad news, though. Despite losing in Week 9, the Packers’ playoff chances actually went up, according to FiveThirtyEight.com. Green Bay now has a 98% chance of making the postseason and a 95% chance of winning the division. Heading into Week 9, the Packers had a 90% chance of making the playoffs and an 80% of clinching the NFC North.

At 7-2, Green Bay seems more than likely to be better than Minnesota in 2021. The Vikings could still land a wild card spot, though.

That said, I don’t think this Minnesota team is any special. But maybe I’m wrong.
