Vikings linebackers Kendricks, Barr decry NFL statement

“What actual steps are you taking to support the fight for justice and system reform? Your statement said nothing,” Barr and Kendricks both said on Twitter in response to the NFL.

Minnesota Vikings linebackers Eric Kendricks and Anthony Barr released identical tweets Tuesday, criticizing the statement issued by the National Football League.

Barr and Kendricks both said: “what actual steps are you taking to support the fight for justice and system reform? Your statement said nothing. Your league is built on black athletes. Vague answers do nothing. Let the players know what you’re ACTUALLY doing. And we know what silence means.”

The two are both on the Vikings’ social justice committee.

Here was the official statement from the NFL:

The Vikings released a statement before this, saying that they “are deeply saddened by the loss of life that occurred.”

Barr mentioned on Twitter that the Vikings have opened a dialogue with players and we’re all working towards solutions with the team.
