When the Vikings took guard Wyatt Davis, many Minnesota fans across social media rejoiced.
Fans had been clamoring for a new guard after very inconsistent play at that position in 2020. Ezra Cleveland eventually filled out one of the guard spots and played OK there. But with Davis, the team might have found a player who could start opposite Cleveland as a rookie.
Is Davis concerned about that? If he is, he’s not saying so publicly. The guard was asked about starting on Wednesday and he said this:
“I’m not really even concerned about that right now,” Davis said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “I’m just trying to learn the playbook and do everything right, because if I do that right it would lead to the rest. I have a lot of things I have to work on before I start thinking about that”
After being out with an injury, Davis was back in pads at practice on Wednesday. At least now he has a chance to do some more hands-on learning.
