Vikings draft Notre Dame QB Ian Book in 6th round of mock draft

Book played four seasons at Notre Dame and peaked in 2019 when he threw for 3,034 yards and 34 touchdowns.

The Vikings are in the market for a backup quarterback behind Kirk Cousins, and better yet, a young quarterback that could potentially turn into a project starter.

In his seven-round mock draft over at CBS Sports, Ryan Wilson has the Vikings drafting Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book with the first of their two sixth-round picks.

Book played four seasons at Notre Dame and peaked in 2019 when he threw for 3,034 yards and 34 touchdowns.

In CBS Sports’ positional rankings, Book ranks 14th among quarterbacks.

Of course, picking a quarterback this late is like throwing a dart at a speeding boat in the middle of an ocean in the middle of the night. However, that’s kind of like picking at any position in the sixth round.

We’ll see if the Vikings take a chance on a young quarterback, or decide to use a veteran to back up Cousins again.
