The Vikings were active during the 2021 NFL Draft, addressing the offensive line, defensive line, and perhaps found a long-term answer at quarterback.
Gennaro Filice and Dan Parr over at NFL.com ranked the draft classes across the league and the Vikings came in at 12th.
Here’s a bit of what the Filice wrote about the Vikings:
After Penei Sewell and Rashawn Slater, Darrisaw was pretty widely viewed as the third-best offensive tackle in this class. That’s where NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks had him. And with the position being a crying need in Minnesota, no one would have batted an eye if the Vikings had selected him in their original draft slot at No. 14. Instead, Rick Spielman moved down to No. 23 in a trade with the Jets, picked up a pair of third-round picks in the process … and still ended up with Darrisaw. Now THAT is how you draft!
Of course, we won’t really know how the Vikings did in this draft until about 3-5 years from now, but so far, the reviews have been positive.
To round out the NFC North, the Bears rank first, the Lions rank fifth and the Packers rank 24th.
